Very nice Cutlass.... I had an '86 442 before some woman ran a red light and t-boned it.
One question though, what's with the disgusting photobucket name? Shiny Side Up! Bill |
thanks, its going to be even nicer once im all finished with it. haha, my photobucket name is a nickname my brother calls me and he made the account for me so im stuck with it.

Today we did front brakes. put on new rotors, and pads. I also finally got the heads back, so i can start putting the motor back together this week. looks like its gunna be all done and assembled by the end of friday. I had the heads sent out to get ported, polished, new valves, springs, and paint. they are basically brand new heads.

today we reassembled most of the motor. got the heads on, cam in, intake manifold on, valve covers on, oil pan on, distributor in, and oil pump in. we still have a couple bolt ons left for tomorrow, like starter, carb, fuel pump, temp gauge, headers. everything went very smooth. no issues which was great, all the gaskets fit and it was a good productive day. tomorrow im also putting the front 2 tires on, putting the car on the ground to fix some other stuff, then the motor gets joined with the tranny and goes back in. forgot my camera so heres some cell phone pics.
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...90123-1236.jpg took off the plastic on the heads to find out they were done very very well. their like brand new. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...90123-1241.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...90123-1401.jpg turbo 350 from the old set-up |

Sweet. I have a very similar '82 I am hoping to get back on this summer. I've been too busy with other projects, work and school to mess with it.
What are you doing for springs? Factory G-body springs were pretty weak rated. I put together a spread sheet about 10 years ago that was added onto by another guy on the monte mailing lists that can still be found around the net: http://www.maliburacing.com/coilspring.htm It lists Moog replacement springs and their O.E. factory installations which are usually a bit cheaper than aftermarket. Have fun and keep us updated. Rob S. |
I didnt do the springs at all. i didnt even think about it, i thought they were fine. ill look into that list and consider it though. ive also gotta keep in my price range.
Today we worked on the tranny, and getting it ready to join with the engine. we made a little more progress on the engine, and put the front tires on. the car should be drivable, but not completely finished in about 3 weeks. here are pictures of the car from today. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...90124-1803.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...90124-1803.jpg |

Try these - they're the best you can buy for your car: http://www.scandc.com/currectrac.htm Not sure if you posted it somewhere, but what size are your front tires? &backspacing on wheels. I like those |
