I you look at those pictures I posted you'll see that whoever did the quarters (most likely long ago) attached them in a strange location rather than melt out the lead and end them where the factory did.

They did an ok job, just an od place to make the transition. And they did it different on both sides.

You never know what you'll find after the soda blaster. :)

Its kind of hard to tell in those pictures how the the previous guy did the quarters, and Steve is basically right, the guy cut up a whole aftermarket quarter, creative kind of strange weld spots.

Oh and I visited BOS on Thursday, they had the whole thing covered in etch primer, so as far as the media blasting/cleanup and seal process, well its done so I can can get back to you with a pretty good estimate.

Actually your car is in pretty darn good shape. The fenders are like brand new and even the oddly done quarters arn't bad. Car is going to be killer when it's done.

I hate to ask but what type of numbers am I looking at for a Best In Show job....

10k? 20k?

I'm not looking for a show quality penny job, nor a full resto, just a quality paint job. You've had a couple cars done by them right steve? What sort of turn around time have you typically seen?

They seem to be the best 'pro' shop I know of in socal. The local 'east la' paint shop wanted 6k for a quality job which seemed awefully cheap. I've seen the guys work and its not going to impress anyone at a car show, but it'd suit my needs especially considering how much I drive my car....

The saying is "when you're broke or happy"

In other words you can spend as much or as little as you want.

Turn around can be pretty good. Typically you get invoiced every two weeks for work done in that time. So long as you stay current work progresses. If you need them to stop for a bit they can.

I've worked with a lot of shops and it's hard to find good/honest ones. PM me and I can get you testimonials from a half dozen, or more, customers. I only know of one pissed off one and that's a long story.

I hate to do a quote. But I will tell you this. BOS doesn't low ball the quote to get your business knowing that they can squeeze you down the line. I've seen them quote $15k for a job and then the cust says "but xyz down the street said $10k".. later they find out the job ran $18k. In other words they try to give realistic quotes. The final price will ultimatly depend on the condition of the starter car and your wants and desires.

You can save a lot of labor if you bring them the car taken apart. Ask D!ck and he can give you some tips to cut the cost. Keep in mind that you will have several grand just in materials for a full deal (paint, filler, reducers, primers, sealers, clear, papers, tape, etc).. it really adds up.

Oh, best of all, thier shop is clean.. And project move through the shop. The only ones that "hang out" for any time are ones where the owners are short on cash so they are having just a little done each month. They also do a lot of classic Porsches (sp?) and those guys are really picky.
