Yep -- Bead blast it - clear it so it doesn't oxidize and call it good... that or black it out...

Those darned LS engines are so nice and compact! You wouldn't notice the alternator if there were a 10-71 Blower with a bugcatcher sitting on top of the engine. That's probably not in the cards, but you can "lower" the alternator, visually by adding valve cover spacers (about $150), or for more money, a set of 2" tall billet or fabricated valve covers ($600-700). Scott Mock's Sunoco Camaro has a custom air cleaner assembly that sits on top of the engine.

Thanks for the suggestions, I smoothed out the ruff casting blemishes and glass bead blasted it today. I think I might keep the natural look for now.

That looks great Rich! Nothing wrong with that! Do you have a close up? I'm thinking of doing it to my OE bracket!
