I hate car shows!! but you gotta go. i like the BS time with buddies but the spectators are idiots!

Blake. You are ABSOLUTELY correct.
It comes down to 2 things; disrespect and ignorance. It's too bad, because it ruins the whole day.
And, I do/would say something like, "Hey dude, is this your car?!? No, oh,...then get the f@#* off!!!
Sorry had to vent.
Sorry about your car. That ticks me off.

I understand your thoughts, but remember there are a lot of spectators at the car shows that know not to touch and to respect the car and the owner. I go to every car show in my area and have never touched a car and really enjoy looking at all the different rides and talking with people.

Since my car isn't finished yet, I am a spectator.

I get it though, for some reason people always want to touch the cars and that I don't understand! When I get my car done, I may just have to tie some ropes around my car to keep people away. :D

Ive done many car shows. Ive learned a lot over the years.
A lot of shows the winner is picked before the show starts, if you know what Im saying. For that ONE reason I dont waste my time.

LOL. A local show here this weekend awarded 2 trophies to 2 cars which just happened to belong to one of the primary event sponsors. In fact, that particular person usually gets at least one trophy at any given show he puts a car in when he also sponsors.

I was only there to hang out with friends and didn't care but it ruffled a lot of feathers because they were not the nicest cars in their respective categories.

I don't go to shows because I like the show "scene"-- friends and I go just to hang out with each other (and/or significant others), get lunch or dinner, look at a few other cars, then take off and go cruise around. Going to shows for the sake of only showing isn't something I much care for. I'd rather be driving.

I've never owned anything show-quality. I've never really considered the owner's perspective before. I guess I just always assumed that people knew to keep the h&%$ away from OTHER people's cars. I attended as many shows as I could get my Dad to take me to when I was younger and I never touched a thing. I guess I'm not crazy to be happy with a nice driver, I get to enjoy it, not have a cardiac arrest when my 2 year old gets in and car guys appreciate it, but droves of people don't feel the need to hover around it.

The car shows are definitely a love/hate deal. For every d_ckhead or d_ckhead's kids that don't show any respect for your car, there are a very large number that do and there a lot of great opportunities to meet some great people and make some friends. I think some car shows definitely have better crowds than others. Some car owners I have chatted with at shows have been nice enough to advise me to avoid certain other shows because of the higher potential for 'bad experiences', so I don't even go to those. Reading the previous posts in this thread, if I had a guy's huge dog get up on my car, or somebody took a fairly large chunk of paint off, I'd probably draw a bit of attention with my reaction and it would be very unpleasant for both parties. I definitely keep a sharp eye out when I see kids, cameras dangling from straps, big belt buckles, drunks, and non-car chicks with lots of jewelry.

I agree with Todd's response, I'd rather be driving or racing.

A friend has his 4th Gen TA at a show; nice car a few mods done. He finishes talking with someone and turns around to see some kid jumping up and down in the drivers seat of the car; mother is just standing there not giving a **** about anything.

He about comes unglued (he has kids of his own); another friend that was working security happens to walk up at the same time and asked the lady to remove her child out of the car.

Her response is "Why? He is enjoying himself".

The security friend responds back that the owner is about to blow a fuse that you are allowing you child to do this and he has put a lot of time in keeping his everything in excellent condition.

Her response "It is just a car not like they are worth anything; you guys are just wasting your money for nothing"

The same could be said about her and any man that's ever taken her out to dinner. I wonder what she'd say if someone took a hammer to her BMW parked out in the parking lot.
