by the time you upgrade pads and do lightweight rotors would'nt it be more cost effective to go with big aftermarket brakes like wilwoods?

1000.00 for the calipers 180.00 Hawk pads 1100.00 2piece Baer Eradispeed Brake Rotors Now Im just waiting on a list from Tobin for the rest. So far so good. |
I called kore on friday and they dont make anything for the c4 yet I would need to send them the spindles and rear knuckles, I also talked to jims hot rods they've done the upgrade for their tri five c4 suspentions and it would cost around $800 to machine the rear knuckles and upgrade the fronts but when their done you can use the stock style e brake, now add all the other parts, you can buy a complete stock c6 zo6 kit on ebay with everything rotors, calipers, pads and hoses, for 1680 plus 100 for shipping but that with all the heavy parts and crappy brake pads, so at 2600+ and a bunch of time down the drain sending parts around the country I think its just better for me to upgrade to an aftermarket brake system. So I'll check some vendors here and see what kind of prices I can get. So if any vendors want to check on a 85 c4 vette upgrade let me know.

brakes
When I was looking for brakes I spoke to a guy who did quite a bit of track time with a C6 ZO6 and was having alot of problems with his brakes. He told me if it was just for looks go for it but if there was going to be any track time stay away. He was in the process of a law suit with GM over the brake system. When the calipers would get hot the bleeder screws would back out and no front brakes, how would you like that a Laguna Seca. After changing the pads a few times the bolts were stripping out, and there is 6 pads per front caliper. He was upgrading to bear equipment. I decided to call Tobin at Kore 3 and went with the C6 Z51 kit. Good luck in what ever you chose.
