I haven't gotten to see many of the shows, but one I remember well ... the Grand Theft '50 (Ford) episode. The owner was an older fellow who I believe managed a car museum, maybe Peterson's? They had a real cop I think leading his friend away in handcuffs as part of the prank. I thought the car owner could've have had a heart attack! Here's my favorite from that link. http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/510...rhaulinche.jpg |
I think they overlooked an important aspect on the earlier seasons of that show. Sure it would be awesome to have that done to your car but imagine if you could go out there and hang while it was being done. Help out where appropriate, chill with Chip some, have lunch with the teams each day, etc. Those would be some incredible memories.

Funny story i recently found out from my mom. My brother and I both have 3rd gen novas mine a 70 and his a 69. When they bought me mine it was in better shape than his and had a v8 where as his had a 6 cyl/slushbox. After he graduated high school he had the entire car torn apart getting the prostreet make over via a loan and the chassis works catalog. So unknown to him (obviously) she submitted his car to overhaulin' on the off chance they'd pick him. Sure enough she got a call. They asked if it was at least a rolling chassis and it wasn't the floor was out and it was getting backhalved at the moment. they said sorry they cant take it and moved on. Poor guy...he still has no idea. My mom doesnt have the heart to tell him haha. |

The TV build does take a week but often times they spend WEEKS after the build finishing stuff up, making stuff work, and tweeking.
Considering the time frame the quality is good although I've heard of a few mechanical issues. The owner is 1099'd for the value of the parts. They found away around billing them for the labor, but the free build ends up costing quite a bit. Still, I wouldn't turn it down. |

As with any build the car did need some finishing touches. I will say Chip, Discovery Channel and a few of the vendors all helped out after I received the car back. I also may have lucked out, prior to receiving the car back it was in the Pirelli booth at SEMA so it may have received a little finer tuning. |
I have a couple friends who worked on several episodes of the show and it really does take place over 7 days. The clock is weird though. It ends at like 4am or something like that.
