For me it was a combination of things:
1. Born in Deaborn, MI - home of the Ford Mtr Co. We got to see all the new cars before they hit the showrooms that the execs would drive home or going from the Engineering center to the test track, plus going thru the Rouge plant and the Rotunda. (You "older" guys will remember "Rotunda" on Ford parts boxes.) Before the Rotunda burned down in the early 60's they had a figure eight over and under test drive track where you could ride in the new cars. The only one I remember riding in was an Edsel!
2. Pinewood Derby. I won a model of a T Bird.
3. Dad liked cars and was always willing to answer any questions I had.
4. Grandfather and uncle both worked for Ford.
5. Model T festivals at Greenfield Village and car displays in the Henry Ford Museum.
All of this started me building car models. Eventually I ended up working for
25+ years in service and parts departments. I got to drive a lot of different cars, from muscle cars to Rolls Royces. :)

I always liked cars. Matchbox cars I guess is what did it for me. My family isn't big into cars but my uncle did have a 63 corvette coupe that was tubbed and had a BB in it. I always dreamed of owning a vette and wanted a stingray in highschool but my parents said no and I ended up with my 68 camaro in 02' and now I am camaro crazy.

What got me into pro-touring style car was Brent Jackson's blue 69 camaro that was advertised in the autotrader. I viewed the link he had listed in the pro-touring website and that is what brought me to the PT crowd in 2002.

at 3 years old dad drug home a 32 plymouth 3 window coupe.
and all family vacations just happen to fall on NSRA show dates ..imagine that..
a few years later was the 65 gto 389 tripower and the 67 gto 1 owner 4 spd all original ,even paint.neither had a/c mom drove the 65 ,dad the 67 for years. funny how :hail: dad got away with 2 goats and no air.. :cheers:

I would say it was riding to Dairyqueen in Seagoville, Tx at 4yrs old on the front seat of my greatgrand parents 1969 Malibu. It was only a 307/pg but now it's mine.
