Called COUNTER ROTATION --

Usually done with the transmission rather than the motor.

I suppose some do it that way. I have a friend who has a 9M Trojan and the motor runs the opposite direction. The reason I brought it up was someone on NastyZ28 had bought a motor. And after installing the motor and hooking up the battery he noticed the motor cranking the wrong direction. He pulled the cap and the rotor was going the wrong direction. Long story short the motor had to come out.

It was a very good "heads up" --- I wasn't trying to counter you but rather just saying that not all marine applications do it this way. So hopefully he is lucky.

LOL I didn't think you were. That one little incident was sticking in my head for some reason. I'm sure it is pretty rare.

I would think a cam and starter swap would change it back to a regular rotation unless my foggy brain is missing something.

I'd put it in backwards and run it off the snout!

:>)

Or do the Tommy Ivo thing and run a couple of them - counter rotating...

rwhite692 01-19-2010 01:29 PM

I don't think any of Ivo's multi-engine setups ever employed counter-rotation.

Well they should have!! They would have been way kooler!!
