I hear the Bunny Ranch is a nice place to stay, but it's a bit of hike from the strip from what I'm told.

Personally -- I've stayed at the Bellagio twice for SEMA -- and I can tell you that it "ain't what it used to be" but either are the prices. I was thinking about me and 6 or so other Lat G guys just staying over at Todds place. We can save some money and help work on his car at the same time. He has plenty of cars and toys and stuff we can use. Kelli won't mind.

Seriously - I like Franks version... wait til you see the color of their eyes... Which is what I did for '09 since I didn't know I was going until about a week before - and got a pretty good rate on the room. Like others have said - check the SEMA site to see if your hotel has Private BUS SERVICE to the Convention Center... it's not "fast" but it's darn convenient... sit down and somebody drives your tired butt to the hotel door. Frankly - even the restaurants were easy to get into this year - vs '07 when we couldn't book a reservation anywhere and ended up with hot dogs and chips... This time around = due to the "recession" the restaurants would take you even if you called the "day of".

Remember too -- the ARIA(?) just opened -- and that added another couple thousand rooms for rent... Let the battles begin!! LOL

I loved the Paris this last year! good food, clean, plus they have a War table! I love to see the money fly at a war table. Kinda like betting on rock paper sisors. Cab fair all cost the same no matter where you stay. they drive around the block if your to close the the hall anyway.

I used the sema booking service and got a super cheap rate at the excaliber. Was 44.00 for wens and thurs 84.00 for fri-sat for 4 people. I know low budget but it leaves me with more money for my cars.

I stayed a Harrahs last year, I booked early- $88 a night for the deluxe room. The monorail has a stop there- last stop before convention center- first one off at the show

Seriously -- the "best" hotel is the one you can afford - whatever level that is... is a personal issue. The next issue is - the one you can book a room at...

Not sure how many rooms are in Vegas -- but there's P L E N T Y of them...

I got to vegas at least 5 times a year for work. I normally stay at Planet Hollywood for business trips and gambling , mainly cause I get a lot of comps there. As far as SEMA it has no transportation to and from so I don't stay there for SEMA. Last couple of years stayed at Flamingo for SEMA, center strip, monorail, etc. For 2009 I had some ton a marriot points and started looking and ended up and the Courtyard right across the street from the convention center. Easy to and from access, and if you need to go potty and don't like crowds, a quick 5 minute walk and I was in my room. now I thought it was gonan be a pain having to drive everywhere, but I learned if your in a dually Planet Hollywood has a oversized lot that is 50 yards out the front door, and its free!! So we would drive down to PH and walk wherever we wanted to go on the strip. Being off the strip saved me at least $1000 in gambling, hell I know I went to bed two nights before 9.

No, resort room, there are a couple dozen up there

For past SEMA events, I've stayed at:

Paris
NY NY
MGM
Encore (Wynn)
Palazzo (Venetian)

Nicest rooms have been at the Encore, by far. We did a suite this last time at the Palazzo, it was also very nice.

Convenience-wise, I prefer MGM the most. Why? It is the first stop for the monorail, so you get onto it first in the morning. Hotels down the route get greeted by a full monorail that sometimes can't hold any more people.

I'm going to focus on just having quick access to the monorail from now on. Sucks walking between hotels each morning, and through various casinos full of cigarette smoke just to get to the monorail. Especially with a hangover :)
