At what things are going for right now, I say 220k. But the money's been going way up the last hour.

zbugger 01-23-2010 05:25 PM

lol.... Watching online I see right after I posted that it's at 230k. And that's what it sold for.

Not bad , but I bet they had 350 plus in the car. Someone's got a bad ride for a good price.

I would be feeling sick! It sold for $230 with commish he is down to $211 and then a couple thousand for transportation and registering then spending a week in Scottsdale. I am sure there is $350 or so in this car, a $140 or 50 thousand dollar lost to me would really ruin your night. I know Doug has tried to sell it outside of Barrett, so I guess this is the only place he was able to get that kind of money. Someone got a great car for a good price!

See.. I don't get why people think these cars are investments.. they SHOULD lose money. It's a hobby, you build it drive it, beat it and then sell it for less than you have in it. Makes sense to me.

Keep in mind that Reactor was built years ago and has already sucked up the spotlight. If it was fresh and unshown it might have brought in more $$$$.

This is a hobby, not a 401k deal. lol

Exactly, drive them like you stole them because the fact is you will lose money 9 out of 10 times.

Steve -- That's it right on the head - it's a HOBBY -- you build a car - and maybe you get half what you put in -- not TWICE.... Welcome to coming back to NORMAL. Cars aren't DOWN - they're just being sold for what they're really worth.

BTW -- the LAKESIDE car was a car called TIMELESS and it's a 35 FORD (not a 37) ... and an absolutely wonderful one at that!

To me this is a hobby and I have lost my fair share of money on cars thru the years. Would I have done it any other way probably not.
I love cars always have always will. If someone can afford to put $350K into building a car then they can probably also afford loosing $150-200K when they sell it.
If someone thinks that just because they get their car on the auction rooster at BJ that they should make money I think they need to think again.

Well said!!----maybe folks justify the money dumped into these things on the basis of "its an investment".
