The B400 that won last year was shown in the Rodders Journal in bare metal and the issue was released to the public at the same time as the Autorama. Impression that Chip Foose built was shown in bare metal on TV and in the magazines before it won the riddler.

I think your correct Roger :unibrow:

Rodger is correct. This is from the DETROIT AUTORAMA website:

1.The vehicle must make its first public showing at the Detroit Autorama. Showing the vehicle at any indoor or outdoor show or any part of the entry, i.e. frame, engine or body, will make it ineligible for contention. Realizing that car owners and builders may need some form or exposure to develop interest or to gain sponsorship and give credit to suppliers and/or sponsors, magazine and video build-up coverage is allowed. No articles, video footage or stories with photos of the vehicle in finished form will be allowed until after the award has been presented, i.e. car cannot be painted or upholstered to be used in any media format.

2.The vehicle must prove minimal operability. It must start, move forward and backward under its own power, turn left and right and stop using the brake pedal, before it is placed on the floor for display. Keep in mind that this is a minimum to qualify. Operational function ability is something the judges will look at.

Prior to Rodders Journal releasing the Issue containing the B400 I called Bob Mallard at World Of Wheels to make sure that in fact we could have raw steel shots of the car in circulation prior to or coinciding with the Detroit Autorama.
As far as Rogers Chrysler [that Troy built] being entered to compete for the Ridler...that was never their intention...that vehicle has paint color matched undercoating.
It would need an underside as slick as the top side to compete for the win...there is no question that additional work could have been done but that was contridicting the intended end use of the vehicle...to be driven, hard and often! it's a gorgeous piece anyone would be proud to own it!
