Seems like you guys are on the same page with what JRouche was explaining with using the silicon boots.

I believe I saw some large diameter grommet-type things in an Earls catalog that you could put in the trunk floor and pass the metal pipe through if you didn't want to weld it solid to the floor. Might help if you ever wanted to modify, clean, or re-coat the pipe. I believe they were supposed to be water and fume tight. I was just browsing through it so I don't remember all of the details, but I'll look through it again and find it.

Yup, that painting looks good.. I kinda figured you had a good plan worked out knowing some of your work. Now Im sure you do. Looks good from here.

Umm, yer brush strokes are a lil wild like old man Picasso. You still have both yer ears??? Stay away from sharp objects LOL Bet its gonna be a nice setup.

Oh, and I double strapped my rubber (silicon) tube mainly cause straps are cheap and I dont have a lip on my tube to capture the strap. Something to think about. Its not necessary for a rubber tube that isnt under fuel all the time, like one that connects to the bottom of the tank. But again, straps are inexpensive. And I used silicon because it doesnt ever get spongy like rubber can. Something to consider. JR

Thanks JR. I'm not sure if I've painted a clear picture though of what my plans are. None of the exhaust tube that I plan on welding will actually be welded directly to the tank itself. Here's what my plans are:
- I've welded in a filler panel from a camaro between the tails lights, so now it's like the camaro set up.
- I'm using the Ridetech filler cap and filler neck.
- On the inside of the trunk, I want to weld in a piece of exhaust tubing that will go from the inside of the trunk to under the car
- The ridetech filler neck will connect to exhaust tube with rubber hose
- The filler neck that is connected to the gas tank will connect to the exhaust tube under the car with rubber hose
- So basically I'm just using the exhaust tube in the middle to connect to the filler cap tube and the gas tank filler tube
- I only plan on welding the outside around the exhaust tube where it goes through the trunk floor and out the bottom of the car

Hope this paints a better picture of what I'm doing. I only plan on using maybe 12 to 18" of exhaust tube. As for any gas fumes.....I don't even have the tank yet to consider putting fuel in it.

Yeah, my idea about the Trunk floor grommet thing....not so much. They only make them in up to -20 size, or about 1.25" diameter hose/pipe. Still not a bad idea maybe, but earls doesn't make the part.
