One of the first shots of the day... love the blue on the Shipping sign...

WHAT A DAY!!! My first ever photoshoot and the first time I got to see the car move under it's own power!!

It was barely dawn when Chad backed the FREEDOMBIRD out of the trailer and no sooner did he idle her down the ramp and put her in drive... he did a short ceremonious reveille-isch burnout to start the day off right! (c:]

Tracy readied his equipment as we buttoned up the trailer and wiped down the car... when the light was right and Tracy was ready to get started Chad flipped me the keys and simply said... "You drive... just take it easy Buddy!" And smiled proudly knowing what I was about to experience...

Keys in hand I opened the door, slid into the seat and started the car for the first time in over two years!! Those of you who know the sound of a large journal Pontiac can imagine the big stupid 440cid smile on my face as I listened to the cackle of 3" Pypes RacePros while I sat on the tarmac of the old abandoned runway...

In the glow of the Colbalt gauges I eased the Phoenix Transmissions 700R4 in gear... she felt like a thoroughbred anxious to leave the gates... easing off the brake I initially just enjoyed the sound of that 248/260 solid and then for the first time ever: the "feel" of the car... solid, tight, authoritative in every way... the steering felt precise... the suspension taught and purposeful but not rough... the black leather interior, dash, guages... everything felt great and the 440 has power for days!!! I was realizing my dream!

She's no Bad Penny, Jackass, Red Devil or Old Yeller... but to say this car is BAD ASS!!!! ... is the understatement of the year!! The last time I had that feeling in my stomach was on another air strip in Germany, strapped into the back seat of an F-15E!

It's everything I imagined and more... viceral and refined all at the same time!! I wish I could have taken some pics of my face as we drove up and down that old runway at speed while Tracy took pics from the chase car!!! And I wish that everyone involved in the build could have been there to take part!! All the vendors and sponsors... all the friends made along the way... everyone here who's watched the transformation and waited just as anxiously as I have! It was well worth the wait guys!!!!

Chad just got confirmation yesterday that not only will the car get a full 6-page feature in the December issue of Pontiac Enthusiast... and that will be the issue that they'll be handing out at SEMA 2010!!!

But we also got confirmation that WE GOT THE COVER!!!!!!! :woot:

Wheels are on your coast right now getting the backspacing adjusted a little since we have more room out back with the BMR suspension!

They should be back within the month and then the car will finally come home to roost!

A special thanks to Jason Rushforth is due where the wheels are concerned as it's been over two years (July 08) since I purchased them!
(And was still planning on running leaf springs out back when purchases...)
He said he wanted them to "fit perfectly on the car!" That kind of service and commitment to a product is simply unheard of!

Thanks again JayR!!
