Very cool! It's amazing what you can pick up these days for $16k!! (yeah right!) I'm glad you were able to get it....I've always liked that car!!

I'm thinking loose the front bumper...get some fuel and raise some hell!! :woot: Oh, and head to Oregon so I can have a ride!!

I'd leave the wheels and paint the stripes black.... for a more "coordinated" look and a bit "race car sinister"...

Opps..... here we go.... $$$$$$

While we are at it....swap out the hood for a 2" cowl. Yep, this is how it all starts!! Aren't we great friends!!

Nice I like it......so what are you going to change?

Thanks Mikael. For starters, I planned on removing the front bumper and the Slide A Links, rolling the fenders, adding a bigger fan (dinky one in there now), and maybe changing the mufflers and raising the exhaust a little bit for added clearance. I just want to drive this one vs having it at various shops for 3 years. :)

Looks like a little this and that and your ready to rock!

Thanks Frank. Yeah it does rev quite nicely altho I haven't really gotten into that hard yet. The shop that dyno'd it shut it down at 6500 and the curve was still heading up, so with that cam I am guessing it peaks close to 6800-7000? Was that your experience?

Yep, def the bumper will come off. And while I wouldn't have put those wheels on there had I built this car myself, I don't hate them and they work well with the car I think for now. So they aren't as high a priority as a bunch of other stuff I wanna do.

4 Camaros for SEMA.... damn that is tempting... let's see how this thing is doing in a month - that would be a helluva trip for sure. And who doesn't love screaming down I-5 doing 70mph @ 3300 rpm. :D

Funny about the "learning" curve of a pro build.... and not bashing the pros here at all.... 'cause it's usually the customer driving the cost up. But the old "if you have to ask - you can't afford it" comes to mind when building HIGH LEVEL cars. These things tend to get out of control real easy.

This looks like a good car to just go out and have a blast with... and that, to me, is the best kind of car. :woot:

Thanks Greggers. Oh I agree - I started with a 35-40k budget on the last one and it took off from there, 95% due to me adding things and upgrading. It's a given. I don't blame the cost on the last project on anyone but me. Once I got the car out of the first nightmare shop and took it to Gearhead, I was taken very good care of. I have nothing but great things to say about that shop I want that to be known. I just didnt get to enjoy that car enough and my life changed in those 3 long years.

But you are right on - a nice car that isn't too fancy or perfect paint/body so I can go out and have fun with it. Just what I want and need right now.

YES! I was in love with a 67 I saw for sale but just couldn't pull the trigger because of my forum screen names... Kidding of course. :D

Yes it is certainly a buyer's market these days. Not quite $16k tho.

I am coming to see my relatives again in Portland in the spring I believe - we'll see if this car will join me. :)
