Nice job Mark and to all your helpers.
For the people who commented on Mark's driving, practice, practice, practice. Notice not only does he drive the " line ", but hits " his " apex and comes out of the corners with alot of speed, accelerating hard using all the track.

I started to learn how to learn performance driving when I was 17 when I started drag racing and AutoXing. I had a 70 AMX that I drag raced and a 1966 MGB that I started to AutoX. I would tow the MG all over Auto Xing every weekend. I would also borrow construction cone and set up courses on parking lots and practice.
I learned a lot of bad habits AutoXing that I had to unlearned to drive faster and smoother on road courses. Over this summer I relearned how to AutoX. I spend more time in my Camaro this summer AutoXing it than taking it to road courses. In hind sight I should have went back to Gingerman sooner to find the ABS issue.
I now have two files in my head - Road Racing and AutoXing. In a AutoX you need to slide and rotate the car. For road racing it is all about maintaining speed and getting off the courners smoothly.
To become a better driver go to the track. AutoXing is a great relative safe place to start. The speeds are lower and wear and tear on the vehicle is less than road course driving. In my experience “Driving Schools” are a good basic training and a first exposure to track driving.
When I start working with someone to teach them how to drive I like to start out in a low powered good handling car. A slow car emphasizes the correct line, it is all about momentum. Most Pro-Touring cars have big power and a brake and chassis systems that aren’t dialed in. So people are trying to tune the car and learn to drive all at the same time. It is also a large investment that you don’t want to wreck.
Time all your lap times you can self teach if you know your lap times. I also use my tachometer to keep track of cornering and straight a way speeds. If you change your line and you pick up 200 rpm at track out you are faster.
Have fun be fast.. go to the track. :lateral:
