This is the EXACT problem I'm having, and OP never indicated whether this worked or not. I just ordered a set of Impala Tie Rods from Autozone.

If OP catches this, were the arms shorter? Did it work?

Got them today, no, this doesn't work, the threads on the Impala ITR are different.
