sorry

russ
I was so close to having all my parts ,most fab work and had started paint being so pumped to finish and posting the build on here for years and getting all the push from this incredible group of people. then the economy crashed i became jobless.selling almost all my parts to survive and having a shell again. now having had the car 7 years and spending thousand of dollars and hundreds of hours working to make the dream come to life it has sat for almost two years and is rusting because i didnt finish painting it. THROW UP SMILEY GOES HERE. I had to stay of the car sites for months to keep me from being mad.
I still have my love for cars . job doesnt pay but a fraction of what i use to make and im trying to find a way to enjoy the hobby.
I FEEL FOR YOU..I REALLY, REALLY DO.

I think it's happened to all of us at one point in our lives.

Hang in there. It will get better :)

I feel for you too, Russ. Right after my car was painted, my Wife lost her job and was pregnant with our second child. We couldn't find a tenant for our rental, it was vacant for 6 months. That house and ours is horribly upside down. So, the car has sat for 2 years, a rolling shell.

We tightened up, and made it through. Our 4 year old was none the wiser. I'm now working on the car again. Keep your chin up, it will turn around.

Now I sit at my desk with a check in hand and my car is sold. The buyer will be here to pick it up next weekend. The chances I will own another are somewhat slim as the economic circumstances that led me to sell the car are not likely to turn around anytime soon. I never even got to add one performance mod to it.

I just wanted to say thanks to those on these boards that made the car and and that dream so enjoyable. Now I will fade into the background again and wish I never had to sell my car. I may be around again one day.

Get every moment of enjoyment out of those cars guys. Drive it like you stole it.

Russ,

I am in the same boat. I sold my 67 chevelle to of forum member on new years day. I had the car just shy of 24 years. I am getting a divorce, filed Bankruptcy, lost job and I had to move in with my parents with my 2 kids. I cried the day David picked it up. I was glad to see that david who bought it was going to do some thing with it.

it can always be worse and I know about your broken heart and the dream that seems to have died. My chevelle out lasted my marriage and never treated me like crap.

I am not trying to make this about me, but don't be ashamed to shed a few tears and know that God has a interesting way of taking broken dreams and making things new again. I know one day that guys like us will have a hot rod again. I'm there with ya. I actually have a dream of one day maybe if the buyer of my chevelle decides to sell it, that I will buy it back....:D Sorry to hear about the broken dream, but be thankful, things could be worse, even thought thats not what you want to hear right now....

Blessings,
Alan

The beautiful thing about great forums like Lateral G is they create dreams and dreams are free. Dreams give us all something to live for especially in times like this.

Sorry to hear Russ. I know where you are coming from. My car has been on the back burner for a while now. My new year's resolution is that if I don't make significant progress on it this year, I am going to put it up for sale :( .

I hope you are able to get another project down the line  .

David
