Thank you all for the prayers, and good will. My wife and I were up a lot of last night, the medication they have her on is to slow down the contractions she's having, which for a short while were only 7 mins apart, but the medication has them only coming once or so an hour. Unfortunately the medication makes her (and baby's) heart rate increase, she describes it like drinking a pot of coffee) and that has us a little concerned for baby's health. Doctors assure its okay, but you know my wife works with Autistic kids, and over medication at this point worries both of us. We'll see how she does for the next week, and if the contractions subside, I think we'll be okay. If not, she'll be on bed rest for the rest of her term, which is April 21st. Sucks because it will eat into my wife's time off once Sophia (our baby) is born. Doctors say Chelsea can go on disability for a short while, which will help us out. My wife is the bread winner, so we'll need it.

Thanks everyone for listening, and I'll keep you all posted.

Good luck with everything Jon, I know it can be a stressful time but just listen to the Dr's and Nurses especially at the hospital when it's time. They know what they are doing and will take care of you. Just be positive around the wife so she doesn't stress out.

Great name, we gave one of our twin 5 month old daughters the same name for her middle name.

Hi Jon, I realize this is a sensative and personal matter and hope this isn't to personal of a question, but any idea what may have caused the early contractions?

In my case, when my wife was 5 months pregnant with our first born she was T-boned in an intersection where a 96 year old woman hit the gas instead of the brakes at the stop sign. According to witness's somebody had to jump into the older woman's car from the passenger side and pull her leg off the excellerator because she was still full throttle after she pinned my wifes Blazer up against the adjacent corner stop sign. Thank God the woman was driving a 1970 Opel.

The impact from the accident broke the placenta loose and long story short we had an emergency c-section at 7 months. Hope all goes well.

Best Wishes

Prayers and good thoughts for you and your family Jon. I know what a tough time it is, but stay positive. Hopefully it's just a speed bump and you and the wife will have lots of funny stories to tell all the grandkids...:)

Who says having kids is all fun!? :D

Having two myself.... and having had friends with some serious complications (one friend actually had a stroke giving birth)... I know this is "worrisome" stuff. We all are pulling for you Jon. It will go fine.

Now -- Do you think your wife will be able to help me... 'cause I have way worse issues than autism! :woot:

Jon, I hope it all works out well. Been through alot of difficulties like this myself and praying for our first child still. Technology is really amazing these days (as is medicine), so every week that things stay OK increases the odds in your favor. Too bad your stress level isn't likely to reduce in step with this. Best wishes, thoughts and prayers all heading your way.
