The problem with programs like this is that they aren't made for the "real car guys", they are made for the wanna be's and the general public. The producers are more concerned with drama then the actual content of the show, because they are after ratings, which are driven by the general public. As long as that is the case we will never truely have a good show without the BS deadlines and panzy-ass bickering.

What I got from it,
There wasn't much shown as far as building or fabricating. Mostly focused on the made-up drama between the cast. Lots of commercials. I 100% agree, the whole "deadline" concept needs to die a quick and painful death. |

I must say that I do like the deadline builds, when done like Overhaulin... Sure that show lacked a bit of the fabrication, but it did show what it took. Boyd's show took longer on the builds, but its main focus was also conflict. There has to be a happy medium here...LOL I really wanted to like the show, and was hoping it would be like the old Junk Yard Wars program that was on years ago. Sure Junk Yard Wars was corny, but it had alot more build substance on less...LOL Why cant they have a quality car building show with that style of team work, and attention to fabrication and problem solving.? |

I thout it was funny that one team built a straight axle car and they never even mentioned it until it was completed...they just said "we are making modifications". I felt like this was one of those steps that you should actually show to help the viewers understand how radical a change it was from original.

Fun show to film! We really enjoyed the experience. That said, I agree that there needs to be a show that focuses on real day to day car building- focusing on fab, quality, how-to and teamwork. That's what so many of us want to see.
Who knows, maybe we're not the target anyways, right? We all spend time working on our projects, not in front of the boob tube anyways.... It is nice to see Speed focusing on cars and builds nonetheless. Hopefully it will lead the way to more good car TV. Drama and sex do sell.....regardless, many of us stick to our laurels and do it the old fashioned way: with quality craftsmanship, ingenuity and good 'ol fashioned customer service. Whether you love it or hate it, be sure to tune in for episode #7 on April 6th! |
Watched the first 5 minutes and changed the channel. Patiently waiting for my next potential client to call and ask why should he pay 250 hours for a paint job when he just watched someone on tv build a complete car in 72 hours.........
