Rodger,

Thanks for the invite, but my time is booked! At this rate, I won't be able to take on anything else until mid-2013.

Who said you were invited. I have you buried in Solidworks work. You really need to take a vow of poverty and come work here full time. You know it's not about the money it's how you feel when you get home.

Rodger,

I stand corrected. Thank you for the clarification.

Are you having these both weekends or just which ever weekend works better for everyone? I would love to be there, May would be cutting it close for me but will try and squeeze it in the plans if June isn't offered. I've had a new Lincoln Precision 175 TIG just sitting in my garage begging to be used. What machines will you be teaching on?

June is the only weekend that works for me -- count me in if it's the June date.

I don't care how much I THINK I know -- I can learn more... besides -- it's another excuse to get together with a good group of buddies - so no matter what I'll make the effort! :woot:

As much as I'll be in California in May and June I might as well get a place down there!

Any chance of publishing a YouTube video series so that the folks who don't live anywhere near can glean nuggets of knowledge?

That sounds cool.

I could probably do sat and Sunday but Friday would be tough. What about an option to attend 2 days? That I could do ......

You're too tall to be good at welding.....

Roger, you should film some of the how to tips so guys like me that are no where near you could buy the dvd, grab a beer and learn.

This kind of work is not just a bunch of tips per say. Tips only speed up the learning process. My intention is to be able to have someone standing there that knows what they are doing that can say, "No your doing it wrong do it like this, Ok close but more like this". We have been trying to answer question in Mario's thread in the paint and body section for months. Mario has all the tools and according to his story, still can't do it. Now I know if Jason got on a plane and arrived at his body shop and walked up to the same machine he has at home he could do his magic. Then Mario could sit down with the same tools and be in the same position as before. But if Jason was to show him how he does it and help him through it, pretty soon Mario's results might improve. The tools and the book smarts only get you so far. Teaching some one how to metal finish a panel cannot be taught on film. Just like you can not teach someone how to drive on a you tube video. On camera metal finishing just looks like BANG BANG BANG BANG. But in real life it is 4 precisely placed hammer blows to move the metal right where you want it. Metalfinishing is like dealing with your old lady, you have to have things go bad a few times to know how to avoid those problems of issues in the future. Then someday you learn when to keep your mouth shut and bite your tongue, or choose your words wisely and you look like a pro. Then pretty soon you get good enough to tell all women what they want to hear.

I'm not sure I see this class happening a few times a year, maybe. But I'm not sure most guys have enough commitment to put in the time and the effort needed to truly want to master this craft. To most it is just not that important.
