Check GM Wave Blue Effect 482P/22U and Space Blue Effect 413G/23U.

BTW, 2-stage is considered a basecoat/clearcoat. Are you trying to use single stage paint as base and apply clearcoat over? I'd stay away from that method, unless you want your new paint job to be as thick as two regular paint jobs, this is the reason why basecoat/clearcoat system was designed,to eliminate the thick build up and give more depth and brilliance .

Thanks for your advice I never even considered that. I didn't even know what 2 stage paint was to be honest lol. I tryed googling those colors you told me and nothing came out. What company are those paint codes for? And yes I was planning on doing a base coat and may be like 3 or 4 coats of clear I thought that was the proper thing to do. But I see more people doing a basecoat/clearcoat all the time and the car looks great also.

Wave Blue Effect 482P (DuPont) 22U (GM code) , Space Blue Effect 413G (DuPont)23U (GM code)

Use basecoat /clearcoat system, not a single stage color with clear over it, because you'll end up with paint thickness equivalent to 2 or 3 paint jobs, single stage metallic colors do not have the depth you get with basecoat/clearcoat system.

jeff let me ask you something. I have a 383 small block for my car. I am planning on having a th400 built I am not sure if I am doing 4 speed or auto yet. But I had a one piece floor installed and I dont have a cut out for the tranny yet. And I also don't have the tranny yet either. In about 4 weeks my car is going in for paint and I am painting the bottom of the car as well. What should I do just cut the opening after its painted? or is there a diagram of some sort I can go by and just measure it and cut it open now?

jy211 08-25-2011 10:32 AM

just cut the opening later. :unibrow:
