That I noticed, just cool to see another V10 going in.

You're doing some amazing fab on this build. I really like the tunnel you've built, I think I'm going to adapt some of that to my build. I am planning to rework mine anyhow. What size tube did you use for that? Very nice work overall!

Can you tell me where the engine is sitting in relation to the front axle centerline? I'm limited on space in the cab of the car so I'll have some hanging forward of my centerline but really don't want to. However, at 6'6" legroom is a necessity.

I have moved the engine into the firewall 5". The v10 and the old 390 are the same length if you include the waterpumps. My number 1 cyl. is roughly on the the axle centerline. I am tall also but will still have lots of room for my legs, but I probably have 8" more of wheel base than you. The rect. stuff is 2x3 or 2x4 with .120 wall. The lower main rails are 1.5" round with .120 wall and the uppers are 1.5"rd with.065 wall. The small rd tubes are 1" x.065 wall
The rd tubes by the eng/firewall are 1.5" x .120 wall. The front frame rails will get a few diagonals yet. Tonight I bagan cutting out the rear floor above the diff. I have to raise the tubs and rails about 2.5" . Then that will tie into the rear of the tunnel tubes. This car will not be getting a cage or rollbar since I want to be able to use the rear seat. I will put bolt in pads for a removeable rollbar.
What are you reworking on your project. Are there any recent pics?

Thanks for the info Gary. I wasn't happy with how my frame rails came out so I ordered some custom bent front and rear rails from AME. I've also been struggling with some sort of a back brace. I wanted to do something like what you did but didn't have it in my head visually. I initially used 1x3 tube but couldn't figure out what to do above and just wasn't happy with it overall. What you did is more or less what I was trying to come up with in my head, just never thought about using round tube for the entire thing. I don't have any recent pics but I'll have some in a week and a half. I'm in Switzerland and building in Michigan; I'll be back for 2 weeks over Christmas and am going to town.

I have done this backbone setup before and it works quite well. The front and rear susp. is tied together this way and the sills are still part of the structure. I will be running a torque arm rear susp. and dual 3" exh. so that tunnel will be full. It also allows the seats to be mounted right on the flat floor if desired.

Thursday night was not too productive. It took over 2 hours to get the rear glass out. I want to reuse it, so being careful was the name of the game.
Got the rear floor trimmed away and raised the rails. Now I can get the Speedtech Performance torque arm into place and build the shock mounts.
Then its time to cut off the quarters and cut out the tubs. The tubs get raised about 2.5" and then widened about an inch outboard. Going to be a busy weekend.

Looks good. How are you planning to tie in the upper tubes of your back brace?

The tub is raised 2.5" ,the tire is at full comp.
I found no surprises when I cut off the quarter, the driver side may be different though.
