This is who I'd recommend. He specializes in LS but has built everything from 1,000 hp eco-tec 4 cylinders to big inch big blocks and he's not interested in building a high horsepower hand grenade.

am I the only one missing the REAL question here?
What is the primary application for this engine? |

Am I missing something? Got it I originally read some street, not ONLY street. But that is not even close to enough info to give ANY advice on engine. |

Back to my question. What is the primary application for this car? Drag setup? Road race style set up? Is he going to be canyon carving with this or only looking for straight line performance? What kind of chassis setup does he have? suspension? |
He said only on the street, we all know how that can change.

I was originally going to go for a boosted small block when I started my project ~6 years ago... Decided that realistically I would not drive my car daily to work, didn't need to worry about mileage, and decided to build the tame BBC that came in the car instead. Now I have a sick 496 BBC for ~$7K in power parts and shiny bits, AFR heads, solid roller. Chevelles com can help w/ any BBC questions you have.
Best advice I can give being 70% of the way through my project: be realistic and complete a full project plan (which I did not do until 1 year ago). More power to levels you want mean new/rebuilt/fortified clutch, tranny, drive shaft, rear end. If I had built an engine that only made ~550hp, I could have kept my current drivetrain and upgrade as my budget allows. I'd be driving now, not waiting for the last couple purchases. |
