That looks kind of familiar? I used 1970 cuda exhaust tips though. Looks good!

cool , I am glad you like it , means alot since you guys are doing the best exhaust set up i have ever seen on a 69 , got anymore pics you could email me of that thing ?

i understand what your saying but i am thinking i need it to stick out some to prevent any damage to the paint generated by the exhaust tip . whats your take on this . when i do body work do you think the heat will affect anything? remeber this is going to be a car that is used , not just sitting around looking pretty !

yours looks way cool , but you have the advantage at some point with that fuel tank . I on the other hand have the advantage of no leaf springs as you do . I sure am thinking of other ways to do the next car . I might apply some of this knowledge to the convertible when i get to that point .

also, will your tips sit close to the paint? think it will harm it?

since I dont have a narrowed tank , I am limited to the size . If i had a custom narrowed tank I would have a much better chance of getting away with more room without the leafs also , that would make for the most room . or even better a fuel tank in the trunk , I personally am no fan of fuel cells in the trunk .

Putting a fuel cell in was an advantage, but, I would never do it again. My tips reveal is about 1/8"-3/16" away from the paint. I don't think that the tips will get hot enough to damage the paint. I was warned by others not to run them totally flush though. This because of the exhaust itself, and the fear of carbon deposits forming on the paint. I wasn't too worried so I went against the warnings and did it anyway. I didn't want to compromise the look. I figured it would be an easy fix if it did happen. I think you will be fine. Keep us updated.

I like it! What are you going to do to prevent it from rattling? Is there any noise issues with it so close to the panel, or heat issues?

What about some sort of thermal coating?? (instead of powder)

Looks cool.. would be bit worried about the heat though..

Another possibility for this setup is to make "a box within a box". In other words have an air gap between two rectangles to act as a heat sheild. The other possibility is to make the cutouts in the rear valence large enough to allow airflow around the exhaust to try to keep the heat reasonable.
