Very nice. That should be a great looking car when complete.
Love the colors.

It's still undecided Chris,,, I have options and to go either way and will figure that out as we go... The whole deal around this car is to move laterally as opportunity avails it's self.... Currently I have a 400 stroked to 461 that I could freshen up and I also have a LS1 with a 6 speed I could put into play... There is also a chance to possibly get a smoking deal on a LQ9 I'm waiting to hear about,,, so as you can see it'll be a decision based on economics...

We're really going to try to do this like someone trying to build a car with best options as they avail themselves.... I have the components to fully build the car in my own collection of parts and I'll be looking to upgrade or take advantage of this and what comes along (provided it fits the spirit of the build well) and maintains that sleeper quick economical model we're shooting for... Wow that last sentence was a mouth full LOL...

I like this premise and if that is truly the goal, you basically have no option other than to purchase the LQ9 or even an LQ4 if a modern engine is desired. A 4"stroker crank drops right in with no machine work. That puts you at 402 cu in. Bore it out 0.030 and you're at 409. Simple heads and cam and you're making 500+ at the wheels with table top torque. I believe it's in the new PHR but there's a build of a stroker 6.0 using a carb and a "tiny" cam and it pounds. You can do all this for rather cheap and it will negate the ~150 lbs more that the cast iron block weighs compared to an aluminum block. Which also weights considerably less than any engine available in any 2nd gen bird.

No need to thank me for helping you spend your money. It's a service I provide free of charge. Please just don't hit me too hard should you find me hugging/humping the car one day. I'm sure I'll just be going through withdraw since my bird is up for sale and there's no telling when I'll be able to build my own.

Seriously though, it's going to be sweet and I do like your premise for the build. What plans do you have for the rear suspension? I consider it to be more limiting than the front but that may just be my opinion.

We have installed a ridetech 4-link in the chassis already.Albert already had a stock sub outfitted w/Ride Tech tube control arms,Triple ajustable stocks,Ride Tech sway bar.He also had a nice GM 10bolt rear that we are going to use to keep the cost down.We are not mini tbbing this car.He is chosing to use some real nice year one 17" wheels to keep the cost lower there also. The only over the top componets are the carbon fiber pcs. Albert et wholesale.

Thanks for all the positive comments and feed back guys..... The car is out at Brian's for prep painted and we'll post some pic's as soon as he gets a chance to forward them to me.... Brian is a Hell of a painter and body guy that managed to complete the Cochise build in what some would say was an impossible time frame...

On a separate note,,,, I've decided to smooth the stock sub-frame, paint the rear end housing and undercarriage in a satin flat grey (to tie into the Carbon) and the cowl has been replaced in Carbon... Effectively when you open the hood of this car you will will see a motor painted in 70 Pontiac blue floating between and under a Clear Carbon hood, inner fenders and cowl,,, or simply stated floating in sea of Carbon & fine metallic Flat Satin Grey... This is something that the average guy can either do (if he has welding skills and equipment) or have done (have a pro weld and you work the rest) without getting goofy that adds a nice custom touch without getting crazy....

I have also made the decision to run the new Year One "cast Aluminum" one piece rims and have them sent out to be cut for more backspace and wheel contact/width.... The guys over at "Year One" deserve a High Five for providing an affordable option that is frankly beautiful in my opinion...

While some of the moves I make here are indeed self indulgent (putting Carbon on the build) the other moves are decisions I feel add the best bang for the buck in performance enhancement.... I fully appreciate that some people will not share my view point,,, but heck this is what I feel works the best so far within my experience... There are some less expensive options that can be chosen,,, but I feel the selected combination provides the best overall balance between spending and performance at this level of a build..

Thanks again gang,,, and I'll try to keep you more current on the build as details evolve...

I'm loving the concept behind this build!! Something the average guy can do himself while subbing out the harder stuff!

Just thought I'd share a couple of quick update pic's on the build after receiving an e-mail from Brian and talking to him on the phone.....

and with a little color

Fenders with a little clear Carbon detail for the engine bay that will be fitted with a Clear Carbon cowl, a custom smoothed and painted firewall and clear Carbon inner wheel wells and a smoothed painted sub-frame.... The idea will be to create a mono chromatic fine metallic semi-flat gray wash with Carbon accents and then float the LS1 motor (block) in the middle painted out in 70 Pontiac blue.

Stay tuned because next couple of weeks this thing is going to start to come together now....

Awesome. Looking forward to the updates.

Stripes underway, Brian Kellison is promising to do something cool here and we'll all just have to wait and see what he is up too... A little birdie said we'd all """really like""" his efforts before it was all said and done,,, something tells me this is gonna be good......
