Uhm, actually... Rockland Standard Gear is who builds the "Transzilla"... NOT RPM. (Your point of contact at Rockland Standard will be George Kreppin.)
If you are after a 'dog ring' gear box... both of the transmissions available from RSG and/or Keisler have that option. The gear sets from Keisler, in my opinion are much better than the welded faceplate design that the RSG Tranzilla utilizes. However, if your after a standard synchro set up... they are both the same. The real question is what your final gear ratio will/should be. The fact that any driven OD gear of 0.75 or more, will dictate a huge drop in efficiency. So I would think that a final ratio of around 2.50:1 would be choice. The first gear final ratio is also important... and it is better to keep that as close to around 8.0:1 to about 10.0:1. So just keep that in mind when selecting the transmission ratios available. |
The car will have remote reservoir double adjustable coil overs so it will be set up for road racing but will be a nasty street car for the most part. I like to over engineer because I don't want problems at a later point in time. I just want to make sure that what ever set up I get, it will be able to handle the power and not blow up weather I'm at the drag strip, road race or mashing on the street.

I will call all 3 shops tomorrow and get some info. I hope to place an order by the end of the week. Thanks for the info on the gear ratio's. I'll inquire about that as well.

Thanks Kirk,
I found the AD but doesn't say anything about being rebuilt. I contacted Rockland Standard Gear and looks like I will be following up with these guys. They said 1 to 3 days build time + shipping. I can run a card over the phone. |
