Ah yes, the coil that leaked oil--it was a dead giveaway--

That was a classic moment---"Hey Renner, (as Rich slams down another Bud Light), where can we get a coil around here?".

"Well, I just happen to have one hanging on the parts wall"

15 minutes later, problem solved. Your Chrome one is still wall art and a great memory.

Good thing I didn't have a motor on the wall this last year.

I am no mechanic.

But i heard that you have to mount the MSD Coils upright due to liquid being inside of them..

Is your coil mounted sideways ?

Again I am no mechanic...Just throwing out something to look at..

The coil is actually mounted upside down. It was mounted that way based on space and has been that way for approximately five years. According to MSD it is ok to mount the Blaster SS this way. There were no leaks from it whatsoever. Correct me if I am wrong but I always thought the cylinder shaped coils such as the Blaster 2 etc, contained a liquid "oil"??? To my understanding the SS coil is full of some sort of urethane.

I have been slammed at work and hope to drive the Camaro by the weekend to make sure she is running fine, and test the old coil. I will let you guys know what it reads. Thanks again for the input! Oh, this coil situation reminds me of my youth, when a lot of local guys would trim a beer can of their preference and wrap it around their coil. A friend with a 73 Z/28 had a Coors light on his. LOL!
