I agree it is a stupid rule and the lead has no power effect in a 4 stroke. But what it comes down to is they were in violation of the rule and should suffer the same penalty as others have in the past. Making midyear rule changes is b/s, especially when it will have a drastic effect on the championship.

And the "so they can run pump" fuel is so completely asinine I'm shocked anyone ever brings it up. NOBODY runs pump fuel. I raced MX and some SX for many many years and even amateurs run "race gas". Not always for power, but because it's consistant, and in some types of fuel much easier to tune. You couldn't pay me to run 91 octane pump gas in my race bike, screw that.

I would not have any problem and I never did running pump gas in a 4 stroke.Anyway I see where your coming from with the rule but its not realistic IMO.It's pretty obvious it was contamination and not cheating.

What years did you race SX?

For the longest time I ran VP 100 unleaded and it worked great. Plus it gives a little safety margin, especially if you're doing desert or grandprix races. Not untill the compression was bumped up to a little over 15:1 did it really become necessary to run the crazy stuff when allowed.

Most of my pro level racing was in 99-01. I knew it wasn't going to be a career so college got in the way of practicing 6 days a week :( It was definitely a fun experience and I'm still friends with quite a few current pros. It flat amazes me how fast some of those kids are.

That was about the time I was doing most of my racing but I was never at national level pro.I did do alot of racing and did soem trans cal stuff in socal at victorville(bad lands).I had some national pro buddies that lived in Murrieta and we hit Elsinore,competion park,perris and a few local spots in the hills.Man all this talk makes me want to go get a new bike.Yes those kids haul the mail these days.

Dude those tracks are my backyard. Comp park was kinda lame unless they had the big track open. Was fun to go mess around with some of my trail buddies on the night track though. If I was relegated to riding at night star west was the one to hit.

You ever ride the gated off pro track @ elsinore? That was fun stuff if you could get enough guys together and get it opened.

Ever been to sunrise? It's in the high desert on the way to mammoth. That was a fun outdoor track with some monster jumps. They had one section with two 30ftish table tops that could be doubled and ended up being just a big over 110 ft total. There are also quite a few private tracks in SoCal that are pretty brutal.

But man thats quite a drive from petaluma down here.

Yeah it take sabout 7 hours to get to the inland empire.When I was going down there comp park was at the old loacation and was pretty fun.Elsinore did not have that Pro track built in 2000 which is when I was down there alot.I never made it out to sunrise but I heard it was a blast.I did go to mammoth 5 years in a row but never really had good luck .
We did ride Mcgrath's outdoor track out behind his supercross track.Man that thing haddent been prepped in atleast 5 years LOL it was like riding on concrete with giant sqaure edges.My friends said they tilled up that whole field and the track is gone.Other than that I never rode any private tracks but there were random tracks in the hills.
