I just read in your build thread that you just bought a Lee box. The Lee 670 box is the same box as the DSE box, according to Lee when I spoke to him last week. If you were to purchase the Dynatech headers, you'll need the same one's as I have. Although, I'm running the 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" headers. The Dynatech headers will touch the steering box on your car with stock heads, so you will still have to clearance the header, aka dimple. There isn't enough meat on the box where it interferes with the header to make any clearancing on it. Dynatech needs to recognize the problem with their headers and correct it.

I can't answer if Dynatech's fit the 825 box, but I can take whatever measurement you want to help:) Just let me know

So not to start an argument here, but I gotta play devil's advocate.
We use Dynatech ALL the time because they fit amazing compared to every comparable brand I have found....... here is a pic of the box clearance on a 69 camaro small block with dynatech headers. Sorry all we did was install headers, so its not the nicest engine bay! Oh by the way they even drop in from the top. I know its a stock box, but look at the clearance! I would venture to say no problem with the lee box. As far as the ground clearance, I find they are very good compared to alot of other brands. Depending on your driveline angle (if it is not a stock crossmember and has a bit tighter an angle) you will have a ton of ground clearance, even on a low riding car. Trust me even spending over a grand on Stainless works wont net you any more! http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/...webheader1.jpg http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/...webheader2.jpg |
Your welcome to come over and see all the clearance issues, as well as communications I have had with the company.

See where my interference issues are and notice how the header flange is still not completely mated to the head. This is with the DSE box, which the company says they redesigned the headers to fit. They still do not fit without dimpling the #5 primary.

Thanks Tyler.

I also have a SBC Gen1 with 168 tooth flywheel. My Dynatech headers did not clear the stock style starter. I cut the flange off of an old set of Hookers that I was scrapping and used it as a spacer between the right head and header to move the header out 1/4". Not exactly high tech but it has worked for 3000 miles with no leaks and was the best option available since Dynatech did not seem to care when I contacted them. I don't understand why Dynatech didn't simply add an extra 1/4" to the primary tubes so the header would work for both 153 tooth and 168 tooth flywheel applications.
