Watching the track I would have never guessed that Brian had the fastest lap. His line was so smooth -- that it brings up the old saying -- SLOW is FAST. Mark's car was spitting fire -- and tires were squealing -- and he used every inch of the track... Which, of course, is exciting and looks fast (and it was!)... Brian's line was so smooth and there was no drama.... Just super sweet driving.

Brian do you know the lap time difference from last year vs your winning lap this year?

That is what I noticed for sure. Very smooth. Ryan Mathews has the same smooth style. No wasted energy. The great ones of any sport make it look effortless.

Never met the guy, but boy what an amazing car. One of my all time favorite hot rods for sure.

Last year I ran a 148.879 to this years 146.155. I was very pleased I was able to improve by 2.724 seconds. My goal was to be in the 1:45's. I was one of the last cars to go and I got a rerun. I caught a car on my first lap, so I had to come back in for a restart. After the first timed lap, my tires were overheated and grip was gone. There was also a lot of rocks and dirt on the track from a few off course trips by others. It appears the guys that have run OUSCI in the past were not able to improve from years back. I am not sure why they slowed down or not improved. Mark was in a new car, so he has a good excuse.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words. Congrats to all that were there and put on a great show. All the cars and owners there were top notch and represented our passion well.

Brian

Congrats Brian. It was an awesome experience to watch you and the other OUSCI competitors run.
