I grew up in a post baby boom neighborhood. there was about 20 boys around the same age and we got into some fun (and trouble) on occasion. I remember my neighbor wrenching on his flat black, slot mag 68 Chevelle while I was building a mini bike at around 10 years old. The dude had some nefarious sh*t going on in his house but I didn't care. He was building a SBC in his garage and I couldn't believe how pretty it was. It also amazed me that his empty engine bay was gonna take that monster (prob 325 hp at the time, :lol:) and make his car actually run! I'll never forget how loud the car seemed at the time. What were those mufflers, Thrush? Anyway, he did a 50' burnout for me right in front of my house. I've been a bowtie guy ever since.

I fell into it... my family was mechanically declined but my best friend in high school's Dad had a 61 Thunderbird that he was going to "restore." Best of intentions but not the skills and we were more than willing to help out! :idea:

I think it was Senior year in HS we ran across a 69 Camaro and he talked his Dad into buying it. After HS I went into auto tech school and would practice on the Camaro!! That was my first live engine rebuild. First transmission rebuild. First suspension rebuild. Car is still running and driving today on the same hardware so I must have done something right!

Never looked back... This year makes 20 in the biz.

My father fixed up a 68 elcamino when I was around 12, I remember grinding dents out with a (corded) drill and 36 grit (stickon) sanding discs. He put a hopped up 350 in it and 4spd. ran good, When I turned 16 I took my drivers license test in it, went home and washed it praying that I would be cruising that night. I also remember being about 8 years old and his buddy had a 63 split window vette, Whenever we went to his house I would have to go look at it, That was the start, buy sell trade, repeat, I am jealous of the baby boomers, I was born in 72 so missed out on the muscle car era, My father passed in 05 at the age of 61 of cancer, His good corvette buddy Sonny passed last year of cancer also, Glad to of had them in my life and influence this wonderful hobby.

My buddies 69 Nova it was nothing special. It had a 307 and 2 speed auto. I thought it was so cool.

My intentions are to build it just as a high school kid might of back in my day. Late 80's.
I know, kinda silly. But, I always liked his car.

My dad. He was a car guy growing up but "outgrew it" when he got married at 20. Always remember hearing him talk about drag racing his 55 & 57 Chevys and only getting beat once. Had a 283 he built with the Duntov cam, worked power pack heads, and a 3x2 intake and a 6x2 intake that he would switch back and forth attached to a Vette 3 speed. Said the only thing that beat him was a 348 mill that was a "freak of nature". Burnt the 55 to the ground at a drive in when the float stuck and dumped gas all over the hot engine. I know those 3g's are bad about that since my 348 does that regularly! LOL!
I'd have to say "he" hooked me! Heck, I remember my first model was a blue 67 or 68 Z28 when I was 5, wasn't even a snap together!:thumbsup:

My dad always said "I was his corvette", so I may have been a car guy in the sperm state....but the one for me, when I was six or seven seeing my first "Carrera..I was drawing cars at three and four.....didn't stick though

Mid Year Corvettes.... and my Grandpa. When I was 5 and my Uncle and Grandpa were replacing the engine in my Uncles 57 Chevy (two door hdtp - yellow with black and yellow interior)... I can still see the motor hanging from the garage rafters on a chain hoist... They'd sit me at the bench and dump out a coffee can of nuts and bolts and ask me to "sort 'em".... I just loved hanging out there with them. All that kool stuff -- and tools and that kool quarter midget car in the corner...
