stock, many people will argue which is stronger, LS or LT T56. If you're going to rebuild or upgrade, it doesn't matter. They are very similar transmissions on the inside. Both will handle your power levels with the blower unless you're planning to drag race the car and launch hard with sticky tires.

The LT T56 will bolt to an SBC easier than the LS version since the bellhousing is a more integral design on LS version.

The only other thing to consider and research are the different gear ratios/models of T56s. 93 had two different T56s available with one having a lower first gear. Not easy to find any more I bet but might be worth the hunt. LS versions have the MM6 and M12. The 6 was found in fbodies with the M12 in GTOs and maybe CTSv. M12 had lower first gear and lower 2nd overdrive. You'll have to take into consideration the funky shifters on the GTO and CTSv versions though. I'm willing to bet that any normal LT T56 will work just fine for you and be the easiest to install with the conversion bellhousing. That's the route I would take.

This is exactly the kind of information I've been looking for. It honestly scares the **** out of me to count on a vendor to know exactly what I need. Any recommendations on a "one stop shop" for everything Im going to need for the swap. Im considering Hurst and Kiesler at the moment. With me being overseas so much I pretty much have one shot to get it right or I will be delaying the build 3-4 months. I need to have this thing on the road by the end of the year. As I sit right now Im waiting to here back from a member here with a LT-T56, if that pans out I'll be going that route. If not I think I'll be getting a Magnum. Thanks again for the reply's this site has been a great help.

Hurst has had great feedback from customers. Some others have not.

Got it! Thanks a lot for telling me about your front sub LOL. I was always planning on dropping my current front clip under the 57' truck. I think you just sped up the timeline considerably. :G-Dub:

Not sure on a one stop source for everything. Your situation kind of changes things really. The only thing I can think would be to research everything needed and get the miscellaneous parts ordered from you favorite vendor. Putting an LT T56 behind a two piece gen 1 SBC is nothing new. Nastyz28.com I bet has a guide for doing the conversion.

Let me know if you go the LT t-56. I have a Centerforce flywheel I bought exactly for this application that I never used. It has never been installed--but it has a lot of surface rust from sitting around the last 15 years.

Looks like I got the LT1 T56. It came with the conversion flywheel so I wont need one, thanks though. Hopefully it holds up! Thanks again everyone for the help. Im sure there will be plenty more questions lol
