That's awesome Gae. They also have an engineering/mechanical drawing/cad class which he may get into. It's refreshing to see some real world applicable courses.

No, one of the two public HS's in Springfield.

Great to hear, Sieg. I took metal fabrication in high school. Learned to weld, mill, and bend sheet metal. Looking back, besides math, it was my most influential class. The high school I went to no longer offers this, however.
Bummer.

The junior high I took 3 years of woodworking at dumped the woodworking shop years ago, the school was renamed from Thomas Jefferson to Rosa Parks and is more of an alternatives school now.

The high school I took automotive at which also had a very nice woodworking shop converted the stand alone shop building to alternatives classrooms.

Our educational failures have lead to a flourishing immigrant population.

I should update my location since I actually moved to Hermiston a couple years ago... Their close enough. Not much is changing in Pendleton currently, just preparing for round-up.

That's awesome! When I was in high school they offered Engineering Drawing, Wood shop and Auto shop.

I took all the Engineering drawing and Wood shop classes I could. I never took auto shop because in high school I knew more than that guy did. I know when I was there he replaced the head gasket on an inline-6, 66 Mustang. And he forgot to tighten the head bolts, blew the motor. He was actually a SMOG technician.

I sure wish we had welding and fabricating classes. I learned in my garage after high school, but those are awesome life lessons. And it doesn't have to be cars either, you can use those skills anywhere.

Don't make it up there often enough! Couple times a year if I'm lucky. Looking forward to more frequency in the future as I really enjoy the land up there. Almost as much as my Lab. :D
