Sometimes the owners are part of the problem. Keep in mind this is a public works project not a private residence. On multi-million dollar public works projects politics plays a big part. The guy holding the check book has a lot of power. If you are serious about getting to the bottom of this talk to the inspectors.

couple years back questioning the inspectors might have got you a pair of cement boots.

gae, you ever get the fat envelope slid you way? LOL

When I attend the pre-construction meetings I'm pretty damn sure the contractor gets the point that he doesn't want to F with me.
I've been doing this too long, seen plenty, and it seems the older I get the less patient I am. :warning:
The latest and greatest........Long story short, I asked a foreman not to place concrete because his forms weren't right. This foreman and I had a great relationship. He called me later and told me that his superintendent told him to pour it anyways. I went back to the site, tore the forms out and tossed them into the back of my truck. True story.

Is there no brotherhood in 26? Where is the solidarity amongst the men you work with?
I would think that's where it starts, if the foreman or inspectors aren't doing anything about it at the time, you go to a super or your BA. If a group of guys are working with the BA it's his job to take it up higher.

You have standards, if it really isn't right or dangerous to the community you do what you gotta do. I would just expect your brothers to be standing with you, I know mine would.

Just curious, did you go to the media before or after you got laid off?

The superintendent was making the decisions, same with foreman..went to the BA while still employeed who thru me under bus and labeled me as the whistleblower...had a meeting with CEO of company then lost job 3 days later midway thru a massive project (someone took my spot) after union/company showed they had no intentions of doing anything (in bed together) I decided to share story with media....back me in a corner and prepare to be hit in nose mentality I guess....
