Scott,I'm kicking around the idea of building a 427 sbc with a Dart Iron Eagle tall deck block. Tell me more about your header fitment problems. I would like to keep my Hedman headers,if possible.

Clint, I was using a set of Hooker Super Comps and the issues I had were:

1. the #1 primary hitting the pitman arm retaining nut
2. clearance for the upper control arm mount bolt
3. the collector on the right side touching the floorpan (because it was indexed differently than the left side)
4. couldn't run a 3" air cleaner (but I was also running a tall single plane)

All the fixes were pretty easy, it was a matter of 'massaging' the headers and running a K&N X-stream lid. Another thing to keep in mind about the Iron Eagle tall deck is that since the pan rails are spread .800", there's no provision for oil filter built into the block, you have to run a remote oil filter. No biggie, though.

My car has a 3" Glasstek cowl hood so I hopefully wouldn't have any intake clearance problems. Would probably run the Dart tall deck single plane, though. Running a remote oil filter would be easy but I'm wondering if that block has provisions for my manual trans Z-bar. Not interested in having to convert to a hydraulic clutch set-up.

It will definitely fit under your hood. I have that intake and I'm 99% sure I won't be using it with the turbo setup, so if you're interested in it down the road, let me know.

The boss is in the block for the clutch Z-bar pivot, it just has to be tapped. I used the stock linkage with my 434 and the TKO and it worked great.

I'll keep you in mind on that Dart intake,Scott. Thanks.
