The Optima's really don't like to sit and not be used. Great battery but you can never let it go dead. Once it goes dead it never comes back the same. Gotta keep it charged, keep it on a trickle charger. Even if its not hooked up to anything. Iv'e gone through way too many!

I have heard way too many bad things about optima not lasting or having to buy another real soon. I drive my car once a week/ maybe twice. So it sits for about 5 days at a time. It has AC, and 1000watt stereo. I but autozone gold battery for about 120 with warranty and I've replaced it once every 5yrs and they have a good prorate system. IMHO it's just better cause the store is right there and it's cheap. Sure u pay for what u get but I doubt I would notice a difference from a more expensive battery.

I am waiting for my current optimas to eventually die. The old Optimas were an excellent product, but somehow the new prod ones in the lat years have been sub par. I have run red tops, yellow tops, in multiple cars, boats, sand rails, and other projects. Funny enough the couple I have from almost a decade ago survived well, and the newer ones died within a few years.
I took the last one (was pretty much new with little use - it still looked brand new), to the Optima truck at Good Guys hoping they would be able to resuscitate it but no luck :( Best recommendation here is to trickle charge and run the batteries frequently, no matter whichever one you buy.
