Thanks Rodney, I really enjoyed every part of the whole weekend!! One thing in particular I took note of was all of the true emotion I witnessed from a lot of the regulars as they saw each other for the first time. Everyone seemed to truly enjoy seeing their "event friends" once again and spending the weekend with them. I told my wife this morning I'd give up my SCCA racing all together in order to attend 2 or 3 of these events a year. I'm working on a plan to see if that is feasible or not. Quote:

Congrats Lance! Nice job building the car and a great result.
Enjoyed the write up and videos. |
Nice work, Lance--thanks for the great review! It's funny seeing that Mitsu Evo gang from Minnesota in pics--they were there (where I only volunteered) at Laguna Seca, as were a couple others. Maybe we'll see you there next time; I'll definitely drive that one (if the car survives events until then).
I dig that trophy, but jeez, a horn, a radio, AC? Seriously? Expectations are always so high... |

Is this Jeff with the 63 Split Window? If so it was great meeting and getting to know you a bit as well. And man, you scared me pretty good once in turn 1!! Too bad my GoPro wasn't running that session or I'd have some exciting video to share with the class!! You've got a great car and congrats on your win as well. |

Thanks... The judges had me put the car in reverse to see if the back up lights worked and while I was in the car I honked the horn. One judge says "someone must have already filled you in on everything we check!" |
I wanted to tell the story about one of the participants at Gateway last weekend, Stacey Herman. Stacey was there competing in her BEAUTIFUL Chevelle. Something happened to her husband's (?) BEAUTIFUL Camaro so he didn't get to run it much, but Stacey soldiered on and competed in every competition anyway even though she had never done anything like any of that before.
I talked with Stacey quite a bit during the weekend, trying to make sure she was having a good time and enjoying the event, she was having no trouble with any of that at all. I think she was a bit nervous about the road course portion but went out anyway and I believe she even pushed her car hard enough to spin it at one point...but she kept on going. My point for this is...if she can do it in her car with little to no experience at all, there is NO excuse for anyone else on this board for not running these events in their cars. This is Stacey's car...it was STUNNING!! https://lateral-g.net/wp-content/uplo...7/P7190474.jpg This is his car (I never got the chance to meet him so I'm not sure of his name), I think something happened to the trans in it early on... https://lateral-g.net/wp-content/uplo...7/P7190322.jpg Both were unbelievable builds and it was great to see them out there getting beat on with the rest of the cars. |
Congrats Lance on the successful evolution of your hard workin' Monte...and the award.
Great writeup and vids too. |

Rodney, Your post brought back a funny memory for me. A government agency certificate showed up in the mail with our company name as "Ron Sutton's Wiener's Circle". I called & told the lady it was probably true ... but let's change it to "Ron Sutton's Winner's Circle" anyway. |
