It was fun. Any day that you get to beat on your hotrod on the track and drive home with no issues is a good day.

However, nobody was real stoked with their times last night. Sal and Don were just at Adams two weeks ago. Sal ran 45's all night with a best of 45.01 and Don ran 45's and low 46's. Last night most of us were stuck in the 46's.

So I was really hoping to run a 44 with the different tires and was a ways away from that. But I got to be amazed all over again what a few shock adjustments do to the car.

The first session the car was very loose feeling to me. Sal said it was set up "soft" the way Mary Pozzi liked it from the SS challenge. I spun in my 4th run of the 1st session. 2nd session with lower tire pressure and and stiffening up the shocks I started to get my confidence back but was at first a little leery of driving in the dark. I'm confident of hitting 45's next time but I wonder about the ability to hit 44's on my Falken tires with any consistency. We will see.

I definitely want to get more comfortable hitting that track in the dark. First because the days are getting shorter and pretty soon all sessions will be in the dark. But also, because it was way more pleasant after sundown. When I first got to Riverside it was 97*

Chad I am still waiting for this day...lol

My car pays me back after but it seems to only give up the ghost at the end of the day thankfully. I will get it sorted out soon enough i hope.

How well lit is the track? I have never driven it but i know it is tight.

You will get there I'm sure!

The track is lit "ok" but no where near what a decent stadium is. I had my headlights on for the 2nd session. The tire chicane area isn't well lit and was for me maybe the scarier part of running after sundown.

Here is a video from the 1st session of last night (I stole the thumbnail pic from July's visit)

If I get a chance I will upload a lap from the 2nd session in the dark.

By the way. I'm planning on heading out again next Tuesday so for those that didn't make it this week you can join me next week :).

I will throw up another thread when I get a chance.
