At that price, I'd probably buy a Lambo or Ferrari instead. That's just insane money IMO. I don't care who built it or who's name is on it. It's a high performance 69 Camaro for chrissakes not a one of a kind, hand cut diamond necklace. Besides, what the hell do you do with it? I'd be affraid to drive it and scratch something or get a speck of dust on it. I suppose if you have money to burn, that's no issue. Cars should be built for thrashing. I guess I can't stand when prices of all cars and parts get driven so high that regular Joe's can't enjoy the hobby. :soapbox:

I mean...that car looked fantastic...the surface was flawless, like a mirror. He definitely got what he paid for. But after it got painted, he never brought it around. No Woodward, Autorama, weekday car shows, the employee car show we have here at the Tech Center every year. He never took it anywhere. Eventually he sold the thing and would later admit that he was so paranoid about his $15,000 paint job that he couldn't stand to own the car anymore. Unbelievable. We still give him crap about it to this day. Sorry...had to share that. :) |

I saw the Baldwin Motion car at the Barret Jackson Auction and i was less then impressed with the quality of the car. Heck my mom walked up to it and said what are all those scratches in the paint. I looked and said well that's actually in the body work not the paint. I just hope there quality is a lot better then the car they took to auction.

To me BM means straight ahead high performance cars, like back in the day.
The problem BM will have is times have changed, its going to be hard to compete (and make money) with all the others in todays world that have been doing striaght ahead and around corners performance, IMO. Cool cars though. |
Marty,
I agree, the metalwork on the car was really nice though. The fit and finish left a lot to be desired in my opinion. I think it was partly due to who was doing most of the work. Last I heard, they have gone with a new builder for their next major project. I think that they have tried to adapt well considering their suspension upgrades. While not as hardcore as DSE-built cars, the B-M cars were built to do more than just go fast in a straight line this time around. I thought it was a good attempt at balance. |
Overpriced?
I would think for $200K you would get much more car than what is being shown. It apprears as if it is a bunch of bolt-on parts that could be built for around $100-$125K. I guess the rest is just profit for them. I agree you should get at least an injected motor for the money they are asking. It will be interesting to see the car and the reaction it gets with collectors. I am not sure a true collector will believe all this hype. They did not get all of their riches without being intelligent.
