I agree. I might only be 36 yrs old but my ear has been to the ground since the mid 90's. If they were SO amazing to charge that much I'm sure I would (we) have seen or heard of them or a car they've built from when? 07 until now....glorified flipper.

It's getting harder and harder to insure these projects on the customer side as there is no real way to put a value on a pile of parts that is not painted or running but worth 100k. We keep a running total each month to insure the cars for build cost until the project is handed over to the customer. And for a big time shop like that place is representing to be and charging what might be one of the largest hourly rates for what I saw was average work on a complete time and materials basis seems like a huge scam.

I know this is way off topic, but I have never heard or seen any of the cars they are promoting on their page before.

Oh I thought this RK place was a consignment business. I didn't know they built anything. How do you guys access the value of the cars under construction in your shop? Maybe by labor and parts? I know Hagerty offers a policy for cars being built. I have that policy on my '64 currently.

All cars in my shop are insured for build cost each month.

NOPANTS68 05-31-2015 05:14 AM

And you guys are covering those costs?

We cover that expense every month on active projects. The customer pays a storage fee, if the project is on hold.

You guys are making me want to revisit my shop insurance policy.

is there a reason I should be covering the vehicle separately from the owner's insurance policy?

I knew RK had a service facility to handle minor issues with cars that came across their floor but didn't realize that they were a "builder." and yeah.... $125 an hour is huge money especially with these cars that consume cubic hours.

He screws this guy for 22 years and his "recommended sentence is 3 1/2 years." This victim will spend the rest of his life trying to unwind what this JA has perpetrated upon him and the crook only has to pay him $15,000 of restitution? How about you ad a 0 to the end of that number and it might start to compensate this victim for stealing his life. If they don't start going hard on these identity theft cases then why shouldn't they keep doing it?

Anyone have any updates on this? He was suppose to have his hearing on June 12th.

As we all know - all used cars can be "problems" - but to me - it's how the car is REPRESENTED in order to make a sale... if it's represented honestly fine... if not - that's when people get PO'd
