Thanks for the help |
I had 3" Flowmasters, and they were Racecar loud!! Inside and outside. I have put on Dynomax Super Turbos, and MUCH better, much nicer sound but still noisy when you push the go-pedal. Very nice sound I think, a bit "beefy" sound, some drone, but like an Cadillac compared to the Flowmasters..
I think that big cubes, cam and compression, is hard to keep noise down with 3" exhaust or just 2 mufflers. |

I had a set of Flowmaster 50 series on my 1968 Mustang Convertible. They sounded fine but the drone killed me. I got rid of them and went to a set of Magnaflow mufflers. They soud quite a bit louder but nice. They have a raspy sound to them when you get into it. My car has a supercharged 333 SBF. I like them but my wife says they are too loud and can hear me from a mile away when I come home.

Complaints like that are why they have divorce courts.

Discussions like this one is kinda like asking what color lipstick, or nail polish looks best on a chick. There's just too many opinions to gather for usable data.
I use Flowmaster mufflers. Yeah, they drone, but I like the sound otherwise. Bought my first set in 91' which was before some guys on here were born. I'm old school, and I use what works for me. The last two builds in my shop for others, not me...one had Magnaflow, and one went with Summit turbo mufflers. I say, run what YOU like. |
