So, just how much are we overpaying for cars to begin with? I was told years ago by a guy who sold cars that dealerships don't make the bulk of their money off of vehicle sales. They make most of it off of the service side of the business.

The dealer isn't marking that car down 25k its the incentives from GM. GM itself marks the car down. The dealer gets a small fee for getting that car sold.

Correct! The Incentives from GM were close to $20k, the Dealer knew he had to kick in some $$ to move it. I think it will be there a long time (he has Two)

Thats why I bought mine, the window sticker was $77k and it was marked down to $55k. They have a lot of them sitting at dealers right now, there are 4 (well 3 now) just between two Chevy dealers here in San Antonio. The company I work for said they couldn't sell me one at that price so I went to a competing dealer and bought it lol.

I splurged and got A/C:lol:

Awesome car.

What's the plan for it, DD, track days, "collecting"?

I think the Z will be one of the rare modern cars that holds some value. Not too many out there and a pretty special car. The MSRP is real high, but buying for 50's seems like a good deal long term.

DD and track days here and there for now I think. I'm not sure if I want to sell my TBSS or hang on to it for when its cold and raining or not.

Must be rough needing a second car for rainy/cold days... Texas lol.

Sadly I'm realizing I could have bought a new Z for less than I have in my 72 and DD all summer even easier, oh well there's too many around here anyways (GM company cars etc), mine is much more unique at least.

Thanks guys, its a pretty fun car so far. I've thought about selling it since its worth about $5k more than I owe on it. Get paid $5k to drive it for a week lol.

Thought these were around 100k? Is that with extra options?
