As a Gulf War vet, I tend toward the military oriented solutions.

Something like:

Either that or there are a bunch of solid Christian speakers, such as Ravi Zacharias "Just Thinking". It's good to have a nice solid discussion where all are treated with respect and still bring out points to ponder.

Not sure I would count Lone Survivor as motivational. I have read it three times and it always get me going, so there is something to it.

Essentially a man against all odds, makes you think.

Sometimes reading the negative books can give you new perspective. That happened to me when I read "Coming out of the ice". It's about an American that got trapped in the Soviet Union after going over there to work for Henry Ford. Prison camp after prison camp, starved nearly to death eating rats, frost bite on his toes which they sliced off with no novocaine. He was trapped for nearly 30 years. He finally made it out and died shortly after. He had a stubborn will to live that very few possess.

I started reading Raise the Bar by Jon Taffer but its more meant for restaurant owners.

A buddy of mine gave me a good one to read.

Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance

Inspirational, motivational...interesting. Very few parts of the book that didn't hold my attention and many that kept me up late to get through to the next chapter. Good read.

Just finished off "Seven Men: And the Secret of Their Greatness" by Eric Metaxas and the companion "Seven Women: And the Secret of Their Greatness" (same author). Both were very good.

Also read "Improbable Planet: How Earth Became Humanity's Home" by Hugh Ross. He is an astrophysicist, but the book is very approachable and enjoyable.
