Is Anvil the only player in the game? As an outsider looking in, it seems like a great business if ran well.
I wonder if these guys could be persuaded to jump into the market? They obviously have the skill, the products are made locally (USA) and they're already in the high end market....I'm pretty sure they've got the connections. http://enlaes.com Maybe Anvil should be looking into options for making a quality controlled part locally, it seems the majority of the problems come from doing business oversees......What the hell do I know? Just my .02 :flag2: |

Alex (owner of Enlaes) and I have talked about "the market".... Here's a MAJOR difference between guys that hot rod BMW's and Mercedes and Audi's and guys building American iron..... They don't expect to buy cheap parts. They're willing to step up and pay 2 or 3 grand for a nicely built part... The American car market wants to "shop" and haggle - and try to find something cheaper. That's not a market he's willing to invest in. It costs 1,000's of dollars to build ONE mold... A manufacturer has to sell a bunch of parts just to recoup the costs of the mold, let alone make a profit. The Chinese guys that have approached him are willing to "eat" the cost of the molds - but then that means THEY own the mold - and they're going to get that cost back by cutting corners or charging more per part. Either way - you end up paying for it (the proverbial "there's no free lunch"). |

Not trying to change anyone's business plan it just seems Anvil could have a good thing going if they just got it....better. Like the investing thread, it's good to know, and learn, the business side of things. Even if it does derail a thread:sieg: |

Thanks Dan -- Me too! His parents bought his "partner" out.... So it's just Alex now. It's better. Partners usually suck. Silent partners are never silent. One side always feels they're doing all the work.... When you're a sole proprietor there's nobody to blame for anything. Poo or get off the pot! |

Good for him! It'll be interesting to see the growth without the "baggage" in the way. Now, if he'd just sell cheap c/f muscle car parts.....:hitaxeonthehead: |
There are other people in the game. but not at Anvil's price point.
|
Mike, price point and quality? Is there another company that makes an equal product in the same price range?
I know Maier (not Mike Maier Inc) makes mustang parts in fiberglass and C/F. I think the quality is good but would never buy from them because of the way business is conducted. Maybe it's changed since my last dealing but I'm a "one and done" kind of customer. Unlike others, it doesn't take much to not get my return business. |
