Thank you, thank you. The truck sold for $82,500 all in. $75,000 hammer price. We will announce the Contest Winner soon. Here's a recap: Another amazing 48 Hour Build Project is in the history books. Ridetech's first two efforts, the 48 Hour Camaro and 48 Hour Corvette compete regularly in autocross and road course events with Bret Voelkel and Ridetech Motorsports Manager, Chris Smith behind the wheel of each car. The 48 Hour GMC pickup, however, has a new owner behind the wheel. The wining bidder visited the Barrett-Jackson DIY Pavilion at the beginning of the week and sure enough... he was right there in the arena on Sunday afternoon. The Barrett-Jackson DIY Pavilion is cool. The winning bidder had the opportunity to see the disassembled vehicle. He was able to watch as the new American Autowire harness was routed. Likewise, he looked on as Vintage Air installed their exceptional AC and Frontrunner system. ...and with more than 100 new parts waiting for their turn to be installed, the winning bidder had the opportunity to engage the sponsoring manufacturers and inspect the parts. He was not alone. Barrett-Jackson's DIY Pavilion attracted many tens of thousands of visitors during the week. Each enthusiast had the same opportunity to check out the truck and talk up the sponsors. When it was GO Time, Bret Voelkel had the honor of standing up on the block between Craig Jackson and Steve Davis. He said a few words while millions of viewers followed along on TV and on Livestream. The 48 Hour pickup looked amazing under Barrett-Jackson's block lighting. Bidding action was hot and heavy. When the gavel hammered down, the new owner literally jumped for joy -- as did the entire 48 Hour Project Team. Barrett-Jackson's 46th Annual Scottsdale Auction has come and gone, but hopefully, the Ridetech 48 Hour GMC Pickup Build will leave a lasting impression. -- 67-72 GM trucks are gaining in both popularity and value. Everyone at Ridetech loves 'em. -- There are some truly amazing parts manufacturers out there. They're run by some of the coolest and hardest working people you will ever meet. Bret Voelkel, myself and everyone at Ridetech would like to thank the 48 Hour GMC Build Sponsors: Baer Brakes, Barrett-Jackson, Forgeline, Vintage Air, Currie Enterprises, American Autowire, Classic Instruments, FiTech, C&R Racing, No Limit Engineering, Ringbrothers, So-Cal Arizona, EAWraps.com, BF Goodrich, Lokar, Kicker, Optima, Detroit Speed, Prestone, MSD Ignition, GSI Machine, Tub O' Towels, Safety-Kleen and Adam's Polishes For more information on the 48 Hour Build, visit: http://www.ridetech.com/48hourc10/ Barrett-Jackson Lot #7005 Sale Result: 48 Hour 1968 GMC Pickup: $82,500(includes the buyer's premium) http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Event...-PICKUP-203700 |

Thanks, Steve! You have alot more pictures of the coverage than I did.
It was definitely a fun build to see go together. |
Now that we are a week removed from the 48 Hour c10 build, I think I finally have enough brainpower recovery to offer some comments.
I have been involved in thousands of events over the last 30 years, but the Barrett Jackson experience is certainly in the top 3. It is the largest collection of horsepower, money, alcohol, and testosterone I have ever witnessed! put it in your bucket list for sure! The Barrett Jackson people could not have been more accommodating. They are real car people and care quite intently about attracting and entertaining other car people. That is why they initiated the DIY Pavillion this year. They approached us about doing another 48 Hour style build sind we had a successful history with these projects. Since the timeframe was short ( we did not finalize this project until early December) we chose a C10 GMC that they had at their showroom. Kudos to Vintage Air, Classic Instruments, Fitech, Forgeline, Baer Brakes, American Autowire, Lokar, Anzo, MSD, No Limit Engineering, SoCal Speed Shop, C&R Radiator, Currie Enterprises, BFG, and Kicker Stereo. This is not a simple shout out to our suppliers...this is me explaining to the world that ALL of these people stepped up for this project on a phone call. These companies instinctively knew the value of the project and the venue...without their quick decisions there is no way this project could have happened. I said that the Barrett Jackson people were accommodating...there were a couple times that Craig Jackson, Steve Davis, Peter Lubell, Jim Mascola, amd Jeff Catlin literally rewrote company policy to push this project forward...because they believed in this DIY Pavillion project and in making sure true hotrodders have fun. The enormity of this project is hard to describe. Whereas the first two 48 Hour projects took place in our warm, well equipped shop in Indiana, now we were tasked to build a truck in a parking lot. In front of 400,000 people. Did I mention is was 55 and raining most of the week? For those sho saw any of our facebook amd forum posts and videos, please know that our video team of Scott Payton, Jason Brady, and Amber Ball worked their collective ass off for 2 weeks (most of it away from their families) to make all that happen. Epic effort, epic result. Thanks to all who made it happen...more later! |
This truck is awesome! I followed the live stream on facebook a couple times.
