Again you are all overthinking this. Buy the box i posted, run a power and ground, 2 wires to the lockout switch, and 1 wire to the Vss signal and your done. Works like a factory car. over 5mph you cant put the car into reverse. Anything under works like butter

Randy that's a nice setup!

Had to laugh at this --- because so many people attempt to overengineer stuff.... that usually is a pretty simple electrical solution. An On/Off switch vs using a laptop to run something....LOL Mario --- It's about damn time you puts some miles on that poor thing! Beat on it. That's what cars are built for. |
Randy, did you tap into the VSS such that this sensor is wired to your ECU and to the lockout control module at the same time?

here you go. Easier for me to show you how it works with the car off.

Mine isn't even close to being that easy . Come to find out Troy did install the lockout module so I'm going to bring it to my shop next weekend and find out what's going on. |
Mine is wired into the brake light switch. When I touch the brakes, I can hear it. I would expect you should be able to hear the engagement with your system as well, and if you don't, it's not working...
Good luck. |

Hopefully yer Ridler ride will pose less riddles...soon. :P |
Thanks for the motivation...
Well after putting 1700 miles on my car since being road worthy I have been working on a number of punch list items. Reading this post motivated me to think about how my reverse has always been a workout. I finally took the pigtail loose on the reverse solenoid and was getting voltage when the key was turned on so I figured bad solenoid. :bang:
After some more digging I managed to get to the bolt holding it in and removed the entire solenoid I tested with the wire attached and the entire assembly hanging down and when the key was energized still no release of the pin. I disconnected it and brought it out from under the car and as soon as I looked at it under good lighting I saw that one of the pins was bent over and not making contact. Woo Hoo I straightened it up reconnected and tested it and it worked. Back in the car, reverse is now no effort, as it should be. I am using the ecm and VSS signal for control with modified stock harness that I sent to Speartech. :goggles: :gitrdun: :flag2: |
