Photo bucket has a new policy requiring "pay for service" as I am reading my contract popup on their site.

i've been using if for years with the understanding if I was to keep it under a certain amount it was free. I think i read it was right at $60 a year.

no more hot linking.

You can hot link for $400 per year. Killing a lot of useful build and how to threads across all forums.

I always wondered if they would do something like this. A small monthly charge would've been more well received.

Just opened me an account on post image and I'm already linking it. Pretty simple and easy to use.

Small fee. They wanted 399 a year from 0. NOT a good biz practice. Not only am i going to delete my account, i will do no business/associate with Photobucket anymore. A simple email stating that "hey, in 30.60.90 days, we are going to change our policy to a little more pay to play" and i woulda been in, for a fair fee.
Shoulda taken Seig's advice two/three years ago when he mentioned smugmug for like 30 a year.....oh well.

Sometimes progress regresses.

Vegas69 07-03-2017 07:07 PM

Yep, say $10 a month. I'd put my money on them coming out way ahead with this strategy vs. pissing everybody off.

glassman 07-04-2017 08:05 AM

Really? or r u being sarcastic? I put money on them shooting themselves in da foot, but i'm not a bean counter techy. (maybe i should be?)

edit, Oh, Did you mean if they offered us (part time PB users) a small monthly fee rather than large ransom?

Vegas69 07-04-2017 08:55 AM

Yes, a small monthly would've worked out OK for them. The large fee may put them out of business. Once you tarnish your reputation in modern times, it's tough to turn it around.
