FWIW

Then you need a PPG gear set at about $17K. A true T56 sequential such as PPG T56 Magnum sequential is about $20k. Then you also have the EG46 from Emco which is not a T56 case but has the exact mounting bolt pattern/dimensions for $26,500. Both are full race capable transmissions used in many racing series.

When you guys say "true", is that clutchless shifting with some kind of electronic cut-out for shifts?

No clutch for upshifts or downshift. Clutch is still used for roll out in 1st and of course reverse. All sequentials have to employ an electronic throttle blip while shifting up to take the load off the input shaft or a throttle rev for downshifts. Something around 15% of throttle input or so. But it is no lift shifting essentially.

This is the T56 Magnum or TR6060 PPG gearset sequential in a 1400hp Viper.

Did anyone ever pull the trigger on one of these? looks like bremer's website is down now.

My customer literally got his roughly 7-10 days ago. I have not had time to even schedule the car into the shop yet. Been on indefinite hold.

I think the straight gate shifting would still be pretty fun, even if you still had to clutch it... is it $2400 worth of fun? That depends entirely on the owner. I've seen plenty of guys spend extra on something I thought was pointless, and I know that I have done same....

Local guy to me won one of these from the manufacturer on Facebook. Delivered last week. He's gonna be putting the T56 magnum back in his turbo S10 to give it a shot. I said he should let me install it in my car to see how it works.

Still really wish i had the spare funds for a PPG but for the money right now i'm investing it into another project.

Turns out that Greg Weld has a PPG sequential 6 speed in his new track car. But this is a purpose built racecar that will never see any street driving. I don't think the PPG T56 dog box would be very appropriate for the street. I also noticed that the Bremer Shifter's facebook page has a notice that they have suspended production of their sequential shifters. Looks like S1 is the only current option for a sequential shifter. S1 has reduced the price to around $1900.

The sequential in Gregs' Dirt Bomb Mustang is really cool.

I also vote for a G Force dog box. I have a T101A.

I have the same trans in my car. I've driven a Viper with one, and if you have your ECM programming right, drives like an almost normal car. It is a little clunky, but it's a dog box, they all are. Stop and go traffic, your just going to hold the clutch. Pushing to neutral and back and forth just wasn't worth it to me.

PPG just released a synchronized version of the gear set, so same sequential shift, just have to use the clutch to change gears, but no clunky dog box.

Price on the gear sets has come down to around 14K. I know, still stupid money, but the gear sets can consistently hold almost 2000HP from these Vipers, so your not going to break it!.

The shifter on the PPG just mounts on a plate and is connected via a single mechanical link rod, so the shifter can be mounted about anywhere. I went with an XL tail shaft to move the shifter inline with the steering wheel. Just barely move your hand off the wheel and it falls right on the shifter.

You can see in Greg's vid of Benny driving, he is having to "reach" to shift the car. The shifter location could be moved for better driver ergonomics.
