Yesterday I took a small piece of steel, 1/8" thick and clamped it to the latch pad and had no issues with opening the doors on both sides. So I am going to remove the latches and tack a small piece on each door latch and be done with it.

I had to do the same thing with my '68. New door handles old latches. But works fine now.

Ditto, bend the pin on the new Ring Bros handle and new latch and worked great.
