Another question that has always bugged me is if in the event and god forbid the car was in an accident will they actually replace your after market parts with the same ones. Like a DSE sun frame for example or forgeline wheels. We always put a declared value, but has anyone been in this situation?

I figured in the retail cost of all of my parts and detailed that on the form requesting my agreed upon value. My understanding is in the event of a loss, I'd be reimbursed for the parts or as a whole the amount on the declaration form.

As long as you have agreed value and have it insured for enough, then yes. most guys the cars are paid for, so with a proper estimate, they just cut you a check and you start replacing your own parts. Where I have had issue in the past is in getting the insurance to cover quality of paint work. I had issue on one job getting the adjuster to accept the hours to return a finish back to the same standard, and guess who the insurer was.....:bang:

I have done several cars insured by grundy and they have been great to work with so far. As long as your estimate wasn't getting close to total value and was a fair estimate, they had no issue cutting checks.

I am another happy LaRue customer. A friend of mine had them and had his car stolen. The process went pretty smoothly for him.

Hagerty is a joke. They once denied me coverage because I told them my car was for sale. I will only use them for project insurance since I haven't found anyone else that carries it. Once driveable I won't use them and tell my customers the same. Grundy has been pretty good to several of my customers. I had safeco on my Nova, mainly because no mileage restrictions.

Infinity (through LaRue) has insured a previous project while being constructed... and even was great in paying out a fire claim we had near the end of completion.

Grundy has been fantastic for me..... when I hit a wheel on the road and bent a rim and my frame. they didn't even question me replacing it with a DSE unit

I have my Barracuda insured with them and it s still not drivable …. not an issue

I have Hagerty with 2 cars. My Chevelle is agreed value and the Firebird has a floating value while it's under construction. That part is all fine, my gripe is the premium has gone up about 25% in 2 years. I'm tempted to shop around to see what an apples to apples policy is. LaRue is going to be on the call list.
